The Irish Architectural Archive was established in 1976 to collect and preserve material of every kind relating to the architecture of Ireland. When the I.A.A. decided to refurbish their existing building, they choose Storage Systems to provide a mobile shelving storage solution for their archive stores.

The solution

To design, supply and install Compactus® Original XTR for 2 climate controlled archive stores. The Archive contains:

  • 200,000 architectural drawings dating back to 1690 stored in drawer cabinets mounted on Compactus®Mobile Bases
  • 750,000 photographs ranging from the 1860’s to the present stored in Archive boxes on Sysco shelving 
  • 15,000 items in its reference library including books, pamphlets and other documents stored in Archive boxes on Sysco shelving
