The Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam is a leading ethnographic museum. Its permanent and temporary exhibitions display artefacts, photographs, music and film from non-Western cultures. Over the past decade, the Tropenmuseum has been working on a radical modernization. One by one, all departments have been renewed, including the museum’s storage facility, which required an overhaul of its storage systems.

The solution

The Bruynzeel static and mobile storage systems with drawer units provide the museum with safe and easy-to-access storage for its collection. The drawer units protect against dirt, dust and damage. In addition Sysco®  static shelving is installed in the store, allowing maximum flexibility as the system can be tailored to the specific requirements of different size and shape objects. Both systems adapt perfectly to the constraints of the building. The ventilation shafts, pillars and cables have been integrated in the design, optimising the use of space.
