CSR policy

our corporate social responsibility

At Bruynzeel Storage Group, we care about the future and are committed to integrating CSR principles into our operations through an Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) framework.

As the footprint reduction company, we want to contribute to a better world for a fast growing population where there is a growing need for efficient use of space and natural resources. Space creating solutions can make direct impact. Not only by choosing the right materials and optimising production processes, but moreover by reducing the physical footprint of our customers ensuring every m2 is used meaningfully and, with that, creating space for future use.

We aim to do the right things for our planet and its population and to have a positive impact on the lives of our employees, their families and the local community and we invite all of our stakeholders to join our journey to a better future. Each and every day onwards, because there is no time to waste!

UN SDGs

UN Sustainability development goals

Bruynzeel Storage Group is dedicated to aligning the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals represent a comprehensive framework for global progress, addressing key challenges such as inequality, climate change, and environmental sustainability. Today, we are pleased to announce that our initiatives directly contribute to 13 of the 17 UN SDGs, underscoring our commitment to driving positive change across diverse aspects of global sustainability.

Our initiatives

Bruynzeel has achieved the Silver sustainability rating from Ecovadis, placing us in the top 20% of sustainable companies.

Bruynzeel commits to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The SBTi provides a clearly-defined pathway for companies to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the three scopes (scope 1, 2 & 3) helping prevent the worst impacts of climate change and future-proof business growth.
Environment

Environment

  • Reduce GHG emissions We are climate neutral in our own operations (scope 1 & 2) since 2021, independently audited by Deloitte. Our journey towards Net Zero 2035 reveals that the majority of our Scope 3 emissions are upstream, primarily due to materials. With steel and its products constituting nearly 90% of our scope 3 impact, we're committed to accelerating the adoption of Bruynzeel GreenSteel® alongside our suppliers and customers. This steel reduces environmental impact by over 91% compared to galvanized steel.
  • Material health & Water stewardship: We are heavily focusing on reducing our CO2 impact by moving from unoiled non galvanized steel to 100% Bruynzeel GreenSteel® in 2030. We produce ecologically consciously by implementing latest technologies to prevent pollution, minimize waste and reduce the need of water in our processes.
  • Durable design & Material reutilisation: We prioritize durable design and material reutilization to embody circular economy principles and promote sustainable living. Durable design ensures our products last over more than 25 years, reducing waste and conserving resources. By mainly using unoiled, non-galvanized steel and Bruynzeel GreenSteel®, we facilitate ease of recyclability while minimizing water and chemical waste. Additionally, our systems are designed for easy installation, de-installation, and upgrading, allowing for refurbishment and reusability. These practices not only extend the lifetime of our installations but also contribute to a more eco-friendly approach in our industry.
  • Packaging We are committed to optimizing packaging practices by minimizing material usage while ensuring product protection during transport and handling. Our focus lies on reducing waste and environmentally harmful packaging materials.
  • Logistics & transportation To minimize upstream environmental impact, we have refined our supplier policy and prioritized reshoring to Europe, particularly near our Panningen factory.
  • Biodiversity We have partnered with the Charles Darwin Foundation (CDF) in The Scalesia Restoration Project in Galapagos, aiming to restore the critically important Scalesia forest habitat. By investing in the restoration of 5 hectares over 20 years, starting in 2024, we contribute to the regeneration of this unique ecosystem, benefiting numerous endemic species and sequestering CO2.
Social

Social

  • Social capital: We strive to make a positive impact on our local communities, but also support initiatives to increase equal opportunity to international communities and individuals with a challenging background. We are currently part of Oxfam Novib’s entrepreneur to entrepreneur program and UNICEF business buddies.
  • Human rights: Human rights form the foundation of our business policy, aligning with international principles such as the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. We prioritize the rights of all stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, consumers, and local communities.
  • Human capital: we prioritize our colleagues as our most valuable asset, recognizing their indispensable role in our quest being the world leader in space creating solutions, contributing to a sustainable planet. Our inclusive working environment celebrates diversity in all its forms, ensuring that every individual, irrespective of background or ability, feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute. Through our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) strategy, we foster a sense of belonging and enable each colleague to leverage their unique strengths, driving collective success across our organization.
  • Safe & Healthy workplaces: Through continuous risk assessment and engagement with employees and partners, we maintain a safe workplace environment. Internally, our Health & Safety team, works council, HR, and management collaborate to minimize near misses and achieve zero accidents. Externally, we ensure the safety of precious collections stored by customers, striving for zero incidents on noncompliance or damage annually.
Governance

Governance

  • Compliance: We prioritize continuous improvement and transparency, viewing compliance as integral to operational success. Our Bruynzeel Code of Conduct sets clear behavioral standards, rejecting practices such as modern slavery and child labor. Regular supplier audits further enforce adherence to these ethical standards.
  • Integrity: We operate with honesty, transparency, and adherence to relevant legislation, including strict measures against fraud. Our commitment extends to sustainability, with transparent ESG reporting and audits by reputable external bodies. We prohibit practices like price-fixing and maintain rigorous anti-corruption measures, including regular training and a whistleblowing channel. Additionally, we are dedicated to combatting modern slavery and human trafficking through annual reviews and public statements, promoting ethical standards throughout our operations.
  • Responsible sourcing & Procurement: We establish clear guidelines outlined in our Supplier Code of Conduct and sustainable supplier criteria, ensuring ethical and sustainable practices throughout our supply chain. We prioritize suppliers with social responsibility measures, including CSR plans or Ecovadis certification, and require adherence to our Code of Conduct, rejecting practices like modern slavery and child labor.
